My mother is finally travelling to London with my father! We hope nothing happens until then. I've decided that this is a great oportunity to review the travelling vocabulary that you already know.

They already have booked their flight. In this session we are going to find out how to get to central London from the airport.

¿In which airport are you arriving? ¿How many airports are there in London? Can you name them?
¿How long does it take to get to London from the airport by bus?
¿Is there another quicker option?
¿Which bus company will you pick? Give me at least one reason.
¿Where will the bus/train arrive?
You have to pick a hotel in London¿Can you explain your partner how to get to the hotel you've booked from Victoria Station?

RELATIVE CLAUSES

Esta semana quería haber dado los Relative clauses. Así que lo que vamos a hacer es lo siguiente: voy a compartir con vosotras un archivo de docs de google para que lo podáis imprimir o ver en vuestro ordenador. OS llegará a vuestro email de google una solicitud para compartir el documento. Creo que sólo tendréis que pinchar en el enlace que os viene para poder visualizarlo.

El ejercicio de lectura comprensiva de esta semana va a ser leer ese documento que os he preparado para que entendáis en qué consisten los relative clauses. Si tenéis dudas podéis reuniros juntas y hacerlo en común.

Es importante que hagáis todos y cada uno de estos ejercicios para que comprendáis bien qué son los relative clauses y podáis incluirlos ya en vuestras redacciones. De esta forma, podréis hacer frases más largas en inglés. Si os equivocáis mucho con alguno de los ejercicios analizad los fallos e intentadlo de nuevo unos días más tarde.

Por último, me gustaría que hiciéseis una redacción del tema que queráis incluyendo los siguientes elementos gramaticales:

- Usually, used to, get used to, to be used to
- Relative clauses con who, where, which, that (uno al menos de cada)
- Intentad que haya una introducción, un desarrollo y una conclusión.
- Si queréis poder echar un ojo al capítulo de los libros del that's english donde os explican cómo escribir una carta. Así podréis practicar este formato contando al algún familiar o amigo algo que os ha pasado.

Se me olvidó comentaros que con los verbos relacionados con "acostumbrarse a algo" después del TO va el verbo+ing, es decir, con GET USED TO y I'M USED TO.

Sant valentine's day

Every February we celebrate Valentine's Day by giving flowers, candy and cards to those we love. We do this in honor of Saint Valentine. You may be wondering, "Who is St. Valentine"? Time to brush up on your Valentine's history!

Legend has it that Valentine was a priest who served during third century Rome. There was an Emperor at that time by the name of Claudius II. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those that were married. With this thought in mind he outlawed marriage for young men in hopes of building a stronger military base. Supposedly, Valentine, decided this decree just wasn't fair and chose to marry young couples secretly. When Emperor Claudius II found out about Valentine's actions he had him put to death.

Another legend has it that Valentine was an imprisoned man who fell in love with his jailor's daughter. Before he was put to death he sent the first 'valentine' himself when he wrote her a letter and signed it 'Your Valentine', words still used on cards today.


Perhaps we'll never know the true identity and story behind the man named St. Valentine, but this much is for sure...February has been the month to celebrate love for a long time, dating clear back to the Middle Ages. In fact, Valentines ranks second only to Christmas in number of greeting cards sent.

Another valentine gentleman you may be wondering about is Cupid (Latin cupido, "desire"). In Roman mythology Cupid is the son of Venus, goddess of love. His counterpart in Greek mythology is Eros, god of love. Cupid is often said to be a mischievous boy who goes around wounding both gods and humans with his arrows, causing them to fall in love.
